Starlight Express-My Role in Practice
Roles I Will Work With:
Make Up-
By working with make up I can co ordinate theme colours throughout the show, this will help build the colour scheme used for the advertising and the programme. The make up designs will also help me to distinguish a style that can be carried through for the programme to provide the show with continuity. I will also work with make up to coordinate pictures for the programme, especially the principals make up, however the director can make the artistic choice whether they would like the principles in full make up for the programme.
Hair- Similarly to make up I will need to see what style the hair is and how this can be reflected in the programme, as well us consulting with the hair team about dates and times for photographs to be taken for the programme if full hair is needed.
Lighting- If the photographs need particular lighting for the programme, the lighting team can provide the right colours and effects for the pictures.
Director- To help maintain the continuity again it is important to correspond with the director, they have an input in the overall design of the show.
Producer-
It is important to also discuss the design and content with the producer who will have an overall ambition and need for a consistent, high quality piece of work. They will have an overall say and approval of the pictures and text included.
Health and Safety-
When using a computer for long hours it is important to practice good techniques to help your eyesight and body from wear and fatigue. Firstly it is important to have proper posture your keyboard should be below elbow height and your knees should not be in line with your hips, they should be slightly under. Your hips should also be as far back towards the base of the chair as possible, and lastly your entire back should be supported. By using a computer for too many hours you are also at risk of repetitive strain injury, this can be prevented by using the points above, take small frequent breaks on the screen, not just a long lunch break. To help to not strain your eyes every few hours it is important to take a 5-10 minute break.
Artistic Integrity-
To uphold artistic integrity it is important to create the programme on a suitable application such as Illustrator and format is on InDesign. This will create the highest quality programme and posters with the most professional and up to date software. By professionally printing the programme it allows again a high quality finish and professional look.
Professional Values-
To ensure that I uphold professional values I will need to meet all deadlines on time, as well as this it will need to be thoroughly spell checked and finished to a high standard. I will also value and use the ideas of my superiors (director and producer).
