Unit 68- Rigging and Setting Up Moving Lights

Firstly we attached the brackets to the sunstrips.

This had to be done on either end.

Then on the vertical scaffolding poles we attached and fastened the brackets on either end.

The brackets were first fastened by hand and then tightened with a spanner.

This was how the secured the brackets.

These are the sunstrips mounted and then using double brackets we attached scaffolding poles across  the top to hold the Robe movers.

When testing how secure the top bars were we noticed they weren't tightened enough,  so we retightened the brackets with a spanner again.

Using brackets on the Robes we attached them onto the top bars.

We moved weights to the back of the the scaffolding to counter the weight and hold them up.

To help fasten the lights I held the the bar to ensure that it would stay under the pressure.

Then to fasten the light I used a spanner to secure the bracket.

Using power we inserted it into the Sunstrips.

Then ran a longer cable into the connectors to then connect to connector with a 3 pin plug to plug into the mains, however we only had 2 of these.

This was the splitter to run it into the mains.

This was our alternative to using the extensions, however  this risked overloading the circuits.

Then in a chain I connected 3 pin XLR into the Sunstrip output- Robe input, then Robe output - Sunstrip input , in a continuous chain. Then I had to tape to the back of the scaffolding to create a neat finish.

This is how I daisy chained the sunstrips, I inserted the 3 pins into the base of the sunstrip. Only the Robes needed to have 5 pin to 3 pin XLR converters.

Only the Robe beams had arrived during the day so we could only see what the sunstrips and Robes looked like so I loaded up my pre programmed states and tried them onstage.

This was one of my chorus states but when setting up.

Finally the extra power cables came and we unplugged everything  to reconnect the cables not into the mains.

As we were still a few cables short and the 16 v pack only had 6 sockets when we needed 8, we left the low voltage  Robes in as they're LEDs yet in the high voltage sunstrips we connected them with the new power.
