Bugsy Malone-18/06/15-Lesson 1 and 2

Inspiration Page

Lesson 1: As Illustrator was not on the music computers I went on Google and researched potential styles for Bugsy. The first idea, discussed previously of using a Sin City style I looked into finding a visual representation for.

The second style idea I found inspiration from was how Charlie and Lola is designed. This photographed textured layer effect would be an interesting and multi dimensional design.

After this I researched West End sets that would look similar to the scenes or locations that will need to be represented in Bugsy, such as the range of signs in Miss Saigon 2014 set and the workhouse from the Les Mis representation.

I also researched what signs in the 1920s looked like for each sign I identified in my table yesterday. From this I will design a similar looking sign tailored to our show.

Inspiration Page and Learning the Software for the Projections
Lesson 2: I started importing all the pictures into Illustrator as the computers upstairs had the programme installed. I then added a title showing which pictures were references to 1920s signs and what were style inspirations. Mr Hancock during the lesson took me and Joe to the side to show us the software- Magic Q- which will be the software we will be using to programme the projections in the show. I made notes as Mr Hancock showed us the software and create flow charts to show how I'd complete and use the functions. Mr Hancock sent us an email telling us how we can use the programme on his computer or on the studio PC in MU3. Before Monday he told us to have a play about with the functions of the programme before Monday. Which I'll do hopefully in my double free tomorrow morning.
